To reset ourselves spiritually is also very complex

– Formed by years of experience, teaching, personal learning

But we can all get into a bad place spiritually

– Not growing, Not loving, not seeking God’s presence

►How do we RESET our spiritual lives when we are not growing as we should?

3 Critical Areas for Spiritual reset

1 – Scripture/Prayer

We are meant to have a personal, life-giving relationship with God

  • It takes both of these things Prayer and Scripture

2 Timothy 3

16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Matthew 6:6

6 But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Prayer is the Conversations

Bible is the instruction and teaching

  • Two sides to the same coin. Must have both

Scripture and Prayer lets you know what to do when you don’t know what to do

  • You can’t know what to do if you don’t know what to do
  • Have to have conversations with the one who is ultimately over your life

Wisdom and direction are found in reading, praying, meditating, seeking

  • You may be asking a question that God has already answered in his word

Action Steps:

►Set aside time to read/listen to the bible on a regular basis

  • Download bible app
  • Sign up for the bible plan

►Set aside time to pray regularly

  • Write them out
  • Keep a record of what you are praying about

2 – Faith

Hebrews 11

6 Now without faith it is impossible to please God, since the one who draws near to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Faith is more than mere belief. Faith results in actions that reveal what you believe.

  • Faith is putting into practice what you claim to believe.

James 2

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but does not have works? Can such faith save him?

15 If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily food 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, stay warm, and be well fed,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself.

Simply put …

Faith is: Believing that God is real, His promises are true, that our work is not in vain, which leads us to serve others and grow His kingdom

Faith is strengthened through prayer and Scripture.

Real faith is a faith that creates movement in your life.

Actions Steps:

►Pray and ask God how you can practice your faith Now

  • If you ask, he WILL show you

►Look for opportunities in your life daily to demonstrate and grow your faith

  • Learning to trust Him in the little things will teach you to trust Him in the big things

3 – Holiness

1 John 3 (MSG)

4-6 All who indulge in a sinful life are dangerously lawless, for sin is a major disruption of God’s order. Surely you know that Christ showed up in order to get rid of sin. There is no sin in him, and sin is not part of his program. No one who lives deeply in Christ makes a practice of sin. None of those who do practice sin have taken a good look at Christ. They’ve got him all backward.

7-8 So, my dear children, don’t let anyone divert you from the truth. It’s the person who acts right who is right, just as we see it lived out in our righteous Messiah. Those who make a practice of sin are straight from the Devil, the pioneer in the practice of sin. The Son of God entered the scene to abolish the Devil’s ways.

►We are not and will not be “Perfect” until God brings about the new heaven and earth or we die

  • That does not me we don’t “STRIVE” to still be Holy

►We are desensitized to the heart of God because of our sin and the influences of this world.

Pursuing Holiness makes us sensitive to the things God cares about

  • Sensitive to the sin in our life
  • Sensitive of the pain and sufferings of others
  • Sensitive to the brokenness of the world

►Pursuing Holiness isn’t about trying to be perfect, it’s trying to understand the Heart of Will of our Father

►Then we learn what BREAKS His heart

  • Our sin
    • Causes suffering in the world

Romans 12

1 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.

►Pursuing Holiness is a SACRIFICE

  • Not easy, but so worth it

Action Steps:

►Examine your life and actions to see if there is any unconfessed sin

  • Confess and repent before the Lord
  • Ask Him to show you

►Through Prayer, ask God to make you sensitive to the things He cares about

  • Others
  • Things you are supposed to do

Closing:

Are you in need of a reset?

  • Wanting God to do something new
  • Desire to see him work in your life
