Jonah called to go to Nineveh – refused
Then he was swallowed by a great fish

When we don’t walk in God’s commands there is always consequences

  • If we don’t forgive we become a slave to bitterness
  • If we don’t honor our obligations,
  • If we don’t honor our marriage vows
  • If we don’t discipline our kids in a Biblical way

Jonah found the right attitude in the belly of the beast – God vomited on the beach

Then the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time: 3.1

  • God is the God of the second chance
  • God never gives up on us
  • Constantly pursuing us

►If you aren’t NEAR Him
►You can’t HEAR Him

Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you. 3.2

The same command God gave him in the beginning

So guess how Jonah responded this time?…

So Jonah got up and went to Nineveh according to the LORD’s command. 3.3.

So I have 3-Q’s for us to consider this morning

  1. What are you standing on?
  2. Where are you going?
  3. Who told you to go?

Look at the first Q – What are you standing on? Jonah Got up…

Jonah Got up

Jonah “got up” there was something that brought him to action

What causes us to “Get up” is our passion/purpose
A godly Passion/Purpose will always be about us affecting others for the Kingdom of God.

If we have a godly Passion/Purpose access the supernatural

  • Our passion/purpose will overcome fear
  • Take Risks – Face criticism – Start something new

Now the second Q – Where are you going?
Jonah got up and he went

He moved –
How many of us ever planned something but never moved

Passion/Purpose aligns us with our true destiny
It lets us know that our life is significant – we matter

Your Passion/Purpose will determine your Path

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3.5-6

If you don’t know your Destination every crossroad is a Detour

  • We will jump to the next newest thing
  • We may even leech off someone else’s passion
  • Will never feel fulfilled

Last Q –
Who told you to go?

So Jonah got up and went…according to the LORD’s command

In alignment with God’s voice
Not adding or taking away, but just as instructed

But know this the Devil never wants you to hear or understand God’s voice in your life

Story of Adam and Eve – God didn’t really say

  • Your enemy desires to steal/kill/destroy your godly Passion/Purpose
  • The biggest weapon? Confusion

I have discovered, just like Jonah, you may not know your passion/purpose, but you find it while you are following God

So I want you to seriously consider these (3) Q’s in your life

  • What am I standing on?
  • Where am I going?
  • Who told me to go?

You will discover your true Passion/Purpose – through God
